We are seeking a Data Engineer to join the ML/AI Services delivery team at Mendel.ai in Egypt, Cairo. This is a key role in supporting the successful delivery and deployment of Mendel's AI solutions for our customers. The role would help build, orchestrate, deploy and monitor data pipelines that integrate our customer's structured and unstructured data sources with Mendel's clinical AI platform. They would help drive continuous improvements in Mendel's end to end data processing frameworks which will help accelerate time to value for our customers and improve our ability to manage and support active deployments at scale.

Additionally, this role will also provide support for internal efforts to drive ongoing improvements in Mendel's AI models, running end to end processes to acquire & prepare training datasets, train AI models, evaluate model performance and iterate with inputs from clinical abstraction team and the AI team.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate on projects involving data acquisition, data processing and integrations.
• Work closely with Engineering teams to drive improvements in our Data Platform and ML Platform tooling, processes and capabilities to accelerate ongoing continuous improvement cycles.
• Assess current performance and areas of improvements against various customer and third party datasets.
• Work closely with the clinical data operations team in Egypt for human annotation and preparation of data for training the models.
• Fulfill ad hoc data requests for clinical AI operations and product development.

Qualifications:

• Required: Bachelor degree of Computer Science or Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in data engineering/software engineering in data related projects
• Collaborating with large cross-functional teams
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, both verbally and in writing.
• Capability of identifying and solving complex problems using a structured and logical approach.

• Data Warehouse Technologies: Databricks/Amazon/Snowflake

• Big Data & Distributed Technologies: Hadoop, Apache Beam, Spark, and Hive

Container & Container Orchestration: Docker/Podman, Kubernetes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in data science/engineering.
