The Accounting Manager (GL) is responsible for managing the integrity and accuracy of the organization’s general ledger and for supporting financial operations. This role involves performing complex accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and leading the month-end and year-end close processes. The Accounting Manager (GL) will also oversee the payroll and accounts payable functions to ensure accurate and timely processing, compliance with regulations, and proper accounting of related transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with NetSuite ERP to optimize financial processes and support data-driven decision-making.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and financial reporting in a timely manner and in compliance with US GAAP.
- Oversee operational accounting processes including cash management, investments, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, taxes, and expenses.
- Supervise the accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments.
- Manage vendor relationships, resolve discrepancies, and handle escalated issues.
- Oversee the end-to-end payroll function to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal tax regulations, guaranteeing accurate filing of tax returns and timely payments.
- Own the management of the Company’s NetSuite account. Optimize NetSuite functionalities to streamline accounting and financial processes, including automation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Work closely with FP&A and cross-functional teams on monthly close matters and other projects.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, schedules, and reconciliations.
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as required, including system implementations, process automation, and financial analysis.
- Be a mentor and provide leadership to direct report(s).
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in general ledger accounting or similar accounting roles, with experience in overseeing payroll and accounts payable processes.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and account reconciliation.
- NetSuite experience (a must have).
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to work from our Santa Clara office one day per week, typically on Wednesdays, for team collaboration and camaraderie.
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE
- CPA or CMA certification (highly desirable).
- Experience in public accounting or audit background.
- Experience in a SaaS industry-specific environment.
- Knowledge of payroll (Paycom) and accounts payable software (BILL) and related processes.
