Reports to: Director of Team ResourcingHours: Full-time, 40-45 hours per week with some weekend and evening responsibilities.

Objective: The Assistant Director will leverage support and resources to maximize our team’s effectiveness in accomplishing LCBC's mission to introduce people to Jesus and together fully follow Him. This position will primarily lead our talent acquisition and hiring efforts by resourcing, equipping, training, and partnering with our hiring managers and teams in identifying and recruiting high-caliber team members through an efficient and effective hiring process.

Primary Responsibilities: Talent Acquisition

  • Oversee and create a world-class hiring experience by providing leadership to our hiring managers throughout the various stages from job requisition to candidate offer, acceptance, and onboarding. Effectively lead the recruiting and hiring team to accomplish these objectives.
  • Oversee new and transitioning employee experiences (applicant and interview process, job offers, onboarding, role transition, new supervisors, exit interviews).
  • Lead and train hiring managers on the hiring process, and utilization of our applicant tracking software. Continual review of applicant and hiring metrics and industry best practices to ensure we provide an excellent and efficient hiring experience.
  • Provide leadership in pre-employment assessment process including choice of assessment tools. Ensure all pre-employment assessments, employment applications, and background check/clearances are completed during the appropriate candidate hiring stages.
  • Facilitate reference checks prior to recommendation of candidates to Ministry Leadership Team for name clearing in preparation for Staff Expectations conversation and job offer.
  • Assist hiring managers in developing effective job descriptions for new roles. Ensure job descriptions for existing roles are kept up to date as the organization grows and roles change.
  • In conjunction with Director of Team Resourcing, regularly review existing LCBC policies and hiring practices, including research of federal, state, and local laws for any necessary updates.

Primary Responsibilities: Employee Relations

  • In conjunction with Director of Team Resourcing, engage in and lead employee relations.
  • Coaching: Work with and coach supervisors on crucial employee conversations including coaching supervisors through Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Staff Liaison: Act as a liaison for employees navigating relationship tensions or other personal and professional conflicts and difficulties within the workplace.
  • Employee Representative: Provide customer service to employees and applicants as needed.
  • Work with team leaders to create and implement systems that effectively honor our staff through Employee Recognition Programs, celebration of various milestones (work anniversaries, birthdays), etc.
  • Provide encouragement and support to employees experiencing difficulties at home or in the workplace. Provide care during times of significant loss, grief, etc.
  • Provide appropriate pastoral care and triage support for employees navigating mental health difficulties.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and applicant tracking systems, MS Office, and database management.
  • Successful track record conducting various types of interviews (in-person, phone, video, etc.).
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the Human Resources field.
  • Human Resources certification (CP, SCP, PHR, SPHR).
  • Degree in Human Resource management or related field of study.
  • Developing hiring and recruiting strategies.
  • Project management experience.
  • Leadership in a multi-location organization with 100+ employees.

Evaluation:

  • The Assistant Director will meet regularly with the Director of Team Resourcing for planning, goal-setting, progress updates, and general coaching. A formal Action and Development Plan will be completed and reviewed three times throughout the year.
