About the job
Hi there! We’re looking for someone with strong reliability and testing skills to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you would be working closely with our Engineering teams to help us understand how well our products will stand the test of time. If you like working hands-on with advanced technology and figuring out why something does or doesn't work, this role is likely for you.
--- The Company and Product ---
Mosaic is a venture-backed 3D printing technology company. Our goal is to build the tools to make manufacturing more sustainable and resilient. You can learn more about our industry leading products here: www.mosaicmfg.com
In 2014, Mosaic started with a goal to become the go-to solution for multi-material 3D printing. Today, we’re the most widely adopted multi-material 3D printing technology with our Palette products.
In 2021, our team introduced three brand new products: Palette 3, Array and Element. Watch our Virtual Product Launch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iWrXbD0f9w
In 2023, we began shipping out production units of Element and Array to our first customers. See how we envision the future of automation in 3D Printing here: https://youtu.be/zNtfUzIjsHA?si=rXY2txdTHASqio8L
In 2024, we raised $28M CAD to accelerate the adoption of our advanced automated additive manufacturing platforms by industry-leaders and expedite our global expansion and operational growth. --- The Role ---
We are looking for a team member to help us develop robust and reliable products. You will help build a strong understanding of reliability engineering, root cause analysis, risk assessment, data analysis and test design within Mosaic, all in the effort of improving the reliability of our products. You will play an integral role on a small but talented team. Your responsibilities will focus on:
i) improving the reliability and quality of systems that automate the manual processes in the 3D printing workflow.
ii) improving the way that the reliability and engineering teams think about reliability and how it fits into the way we work
iii) improving the ways that we define, measure, and track reliability through data (log data, test data, etc.)
This means you will:
- develop a strong understanding of how our products work and how they break
- help re-define the way we validate our products
- establish new test processes and methodologies
- design and execute tests against our hardware products (at a system level, sub-assembly level, and even component level)
- prototype & design test jigs, fixtures, and more
- perform statistical data analysis on test data and field data
- build an understanding of top issues that customers face in the field
- design metrics, reports and systems that contribute to our overall understanding of fleet health and performance
- dive into issues to determine the root cause of the problem
- collaborate with team members on the design of new electromechanical systems
- get hands-on experience with cutting-edge 3D printing technology
- mentor and help develop other engineers
- also have opportunities to contribute to other areas of the product and company
--- Top candidates for this role… ---
- hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in a reliability, testing or validation role in a relevant industry
- are comfortable with testing and diagnosing electromechanical systems
- understand how to analyze and present data
- are resourceful, entrepreneurial, and adaptable
- love learning and working with teams
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- Quality, Reliability, and/or Test engineering
- data analysis and statistical methods
- ALT and Weibull Analysis
- experience with automation of testing through scripting
- familiarity with CAD including creating parts and assemblies
- familiarity with 3D Printing and the systems used in 3D Printing
- failure analysis and root cause analysis techniques
- product development in a relevant industry (consumer electronics, technology, manufacturing, etc.)
- Certified Reliability Engineer certification
--- After 12 months on the job, you can expect to have... ---
- learned how an idea moves from concept through to prototyping and then into production for our customers around the world
- contributed to a fundamental shift in the way that the Mosaic Engineering organization works on a day to day basis
- been an integral part of a team that eliminated major limitations in 3D printing at scale, and witnessed the direct impact of this achievement with global brands
- seen substantial growth in your development and performance, both personally and professionally
- gained first-hand experience at a rapidly scaling technology company, and learned a number of entrepreneurial skills during the process
- built a network of top-tier engineers (mechanical, mechatronics, firmware, software), business people, advisors, industry experts, etc.
