About the role

We are looking for a talented Staff Engineer who can enhance the productivity of our Engineering team both through direct contributions as an individual contributor and as a force multiplier for the rest of the team.

• Guiding the adoption of best practices within the engineering team
• Making or supporting difficult architectural decisions
• Working directly on our most complex technical challenges

• Can enhance the productivity of our team both through direct contributions as an individual contributor and through nonlinear improvements of the rest of the team.

• Is equally comfortable delegating and directly contributing.
• Has the experience and vision to proactively identify what we should be adding to our backlog
• Who can be flexible in their approach and meet the team where they are today

Key Responsibilities:

• Introduce best practices and help prioritize adoption of them. Here are some examples of areas in which you will be contributing:
  *Establishing code standards
  *Implementing a holistic testing strategy
  *CI/CD
  *Technical design practices
  *Security practices

• Help optimize architecture, taking into account complexity, development cost, operational burden, etc. For example:
  *Where/how is the app hosted
  *How should different components of the app be organized and communicate
  *What should our data structures look like today and in the future
  *How should our APIs be designed

• Work directly on projects that have high strategic value for the company

• Provide mentorship to the engineering team

Key Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years professional Python experience
• An understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and React or similar modern web frameworks
• An understanding of machine learning
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
• Experience building and deploying container-based applications using tools such as Kubernetes
• Experience with automated deployment tools such as Ansible or Terraform
• Experience with databases like mongodb, cassandra or sql
• Experience deploying software to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins
• Experience designing and implementing APIs using standards such as REST, GraphQL, etc.
