About the Role:

As a Head of Engineering at Collinear, you will own key areas of our AI product development, manage cross-functional teams, and lead cutting-edge engineering projects. You'll work closely with customers, product, GTM, and operations to build and support models for AI workflows and advanced reasoning capabilities. In this role, you will lead not only Machine Learning engineers but also a diverse group of backend developers, frontend developers, and full-stack engineers. You'll ensure that the entire engineering team, both ML and non-ML engineers, work in synergy to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that AI models integrate seamlessly with backend systems, frontend interfaces, and user-centric applications.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have hands-on experience in these areas and can contribute from day one.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead a team of 4-5 ML Engineers with expertise in LLMs and align them with the short- and long-term engineering goals.
2. Manage and collaborate with non-ML engineers, including backend developers, frontend developers, and full-stack engineers, to deliver cohesive and scalable solutions.
3. Own and lead large-scale areas of Collinear’s AI product development, particularly related to LLMs, Generative AI, and NLP, ensuring integration with non-AI components.
4. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external customers to define, build, and support model capabilities.
5. Design, develop, and implement AI solutions covering the full product lifecycle, including system architecture, backend, frontend, and integration with AI models.
6. Ensure smooth integration of AI models with backend systems, APIs, databases, and frontend interfaces to deliver end-to-end features.
7. Drive high-velocity experimentation and maintain a focus on quality output to engage and meet customer expectations.
8. Mentor and inspire engineers from all disciplines, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and innovation.
9. Collaborate with the Product and GTM teams to bring AI models and other product features to market, aligning with business needs and customer goals.

Requirements:

1. 7+ years of relevant experience in AI, Machine Learning, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience working on agentic or AI-related products.
2. Proven track record of shipping high-quality AI products and features at scale, especially in LLM or NLP-related projects.
3. Strong cross-functional collaboration experience, working with engineering, product, and GTM teams.
4. Ability to turn business ideas and product concepts into scalable engineering solutions.
5. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment with the ability to pivot quickly as needed.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
