Safety Learnings Data Scientist Internship/Co-op

The Safety Strategy & Operations Team at Zoox is responsible for advancing Zoox’s safety planning, regulatory reporting, and operational/field safety processes. The Safety Learnings Data Scientist Intern will contribute to evolving key aspects of our Operational Safety Program, including but not limited to querying field data to extract signals for potential vehicle safety concerns, and building safety dashboards for consumption by leadership.

As a 2025 intern on this team, you will have a valuable opportunity to tackle a substantive, independent project, while also supporting the team’s overall mission. You will have the opportunity to contribute to scaling new tools and processes within the team, while building out associated documentation.

Technical Qualifications & Language Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL, PySpark, C++
• Motivated self-starter with an inclination to get things done and dive deep. Intellectual curiosity and propensity to challenge existing processes.
• Passion for safety at the intersection of Operations, Data Science, and Engineering
• Currently pursuing a degree program in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or Computer Science. Internship is open to candidates in pursuit of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree, with a preference for the latter.

Compensation
The monthly salary range for this position is $6,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on role, degree level and type, and benefits will be offered based on eligibility. Additional benefits may include medical insurance, 401k, and a housing stipend.
