About Workshop Venture Partners
Workshop Venture Partners is a venture studio that partners with founders to build startups in climate and education. Led by Chad and Eleanor Laurans, co-founders of SimpliSafe, our team of entrepreneurs, engineers, and strategists leverage deep industry and customer insights to identify urgent, unsolved problems and support founders in developing breakthrough innovations.
About the Role
Workshop Ventures is seeking an entrepreneurial leader passionate about transforming education to join us as an Entrepreneur in Residence. In this role, you will work closely with Workshop's team to develop and launch a new education technology venture aimed at dramatically improving student outcomes.
You will lead all aspects of the venture creation process, from validating the initial concept to building the founding team. This includes:
Deeply researching the problem space and target market
Rapidly prototyping and testing potential solutions
Developing the business model, go-to-market strategy, and product roadmap
Recruiting co-founders and early team members
Launching an initial product and driving early traction
Throughout the EIR process, you will leverage Workshop's extensive experience, network, and resources to validate and position your concept for significant scale. If the venture shows promise, Workshop will invest pre-seed funding and dedicate a team to support you in spinning it out as a standalone startup. As co-founder and CEO, you will own a significant equity stake and continue leading the new company to achieve its mission.
About You
Serial entrepreneur with experience founding and scaling education technology companies
Deep expertise in a particular area of K-12, post-secondary education or Workforce
Ability to translate sector knowledge into transformative product and business model innovations
Strong leadership skills and experience building high-performing teams
Passion for leveraging technology to improve educational access and outcomes, especially for underserved students
Hustle, creativity and a bias toward action
How Workshop Will Support You
Dedicated support from Workshop's team of engineers, designers, and strategists to develop and launch your venture
Access to Workshop's extensive network of education sector advisors, investors and talent
Pre-seed funding to validate your concept and achieve key milestones
Significant founder equity stake and follow-on investment upon spinout
Continued hands-on support from Workshop in the 1-2 years post-launch to maximize your venture's odds of success
If you dream of building a high-impact education venture and are excited to partner with Workshop to make that vision a reality, we'd love to hear from you.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.
