About the job

Kodiak Robotics has built the best self-driving technology purpose-built for long-haul trucks, industrial and defense applications. Lauded by commercial partners as the safest and most capable autonomous freight and industrial solutions on the market, the Kodiak team is ushering in a new era of transportation. We’re led by many of the self-driving industry’s leading minds, who have built Kodiak’s technology from day one to be deployable and scalable.

We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Integration Technician who is familiar with new product introduction, system-level integration, and has experience working cross functionally with operations and engineering teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, and software systems to execute test plans, analyze data, submit reports and work with other teams on how to improve tested systems
  • Lead and support engineering test activities by applying engineering practices, principles, and various analysis tools to achieve performance targets and standards
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues in the field, and trace failures to correct subsystems
  • Provide Design-For-Manufacturing feedback for low to mid-volume manufacturing processes
  • Inspect hardware quality at various levels and resolve manufacturing/build issues
  • Install, remove, calibrate and troubleshoot of sensors such as lidars, radars, cameras, and GPS
  • Install, remove, flash/configure of Embedded computers/Electronic control units (ECUs)
  • Install, remove, fabricate, and troubleshoot of harnessing for CAN, 12V, 24V, ethernet, automotive ethernet, and high-speed coax systems and protocols
  • Install, remove, and calibrate test and data acquisition equipment
  • Provide written and verbal feedback/reports to mechanical, electrical, and vehicle integration engineers on system manufacturability and serviceability.
  • Create and run functional verification procedures on sensor and compute subsystems
  • Generate reports on field failures, support engineering investigations, and help implement corrective actions/mitigations
  • Create and review documentation such as drawings, schematics, build instructions, and incoming hardware quality tests/checks
  • Develop and perform corrective and preventative actions for top failure modes

What you'll bring:

  • Strong technical background. 5+ years of experience as a technician in the autonomous, automotive, aerospace or related industry
  • Proven ability to build and iterate quickly. You have experienced product development in all stages and feel comfortable in the earlier stages – moving from zero to one
  • Hands on. You are just as comfortable with a wrench as a keyboard. You have a deep understanding of manufacturing processes for both low and high volume production
  • Great communicator. You have experience writing clear, concise, and detailed documentation. You are skilled in leading and participating in cross-functional design reviews
  • Experience with CAD packages such as SolidWorks, NX, Catia, and/or Creo
  • Experience with scripting and data analysis languages such as Python or Matlab
  • Experience and knowledge around instrumentation using a wide variety of sensors (strain gauges, thermocouples, load cells, etc)
  • You are confident with automotive electronics and are familiar with communication protocols and tools such as Ethernet, CAN, LIN, 100BASE-T1

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of the industry and lead the way in developing new technologies never seen before
  • Paid lunches for days of on site work
  • Competitive compensation package including equity and annual bonus
  • Excellent Medical, Dental, and Vision plans through Anthem, and Guardian (including a medical plan with infertility benefits)
  • Long Term Disability, Short Term Disability, Life Insurance
  • Fidelity 401(k)
