In Office (San Mateo, CA). This role requires in office work 4-5 days/week.
The Role
GoPro’s audio engineering team creates immersive audio experiences for our customers. Customers use GoPro audio systems to capture amazing content from formula drift racers to surfing mavericks to intimate acoustic guitar performances. On this team, you will capture the content that our customers love. You will test audio performance of GoPro audio components, cameras, and accessories. You will test in audio labs and in the real-world. You will define and create new test systems. You will conduct peer reviews for the content you capture.
You will test audio systems as you capture audio in various outdoor activities including mountain biking, surfing, riding motorcycles, skating, skiing, and snorkeling. You will learn to quantify audio performance in audio labs. You will collect and scrutinize data and recommend changes to improve audio performance. You will document and create new audio test cases.
You will coordinate your work with audio engineers to ensure audio is awesome! You will grow in experience and responsibility.
What You Will Do
- Verify audio performance on GoPro cameras and accessories.
- Define, develop, and deploy new audio test methodologies and test cases.
- Enjoy a wide variety of work activities. Capture lab measurements and conduct a peer review in the morning. Mountain bike in the afternoon.
Skills We’re Excited About
- BS or MS in an engineering discipline, preferably related to acoustics
- Experience with a variety of outdoor activities, mountain biking, surfing, riding motorcycles, skating, skiing, and snorkeling.
- Experience with audio test systems (Audio Precision, Listen, etc.)
- Ability to work well with other humans
Bonus Points For
- Experience with Videography
- Experience as a musician, music performance and recording
- Knowing Mechanical modeling and 3D printing
- Knowing Electrical Circuit and PCB fundamentals
- Knowing DSP fundamentals

The pay range for this role is between $95,200 - $112,000. Actual pay within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including your residence location and prior work experience. Equity, benefits, and a discretionary bonus may be additional forms of compensation for this role and are not included in the provided pay range.
