As an Equipment Maintenance Technician at Rigetti Computing (Fremont site), you will support the fabrication of device wafers in our Fab-1 facility. You will work with Production Operations & Process Engineering teams (to support wafer processing). You will also provide metrology and data-gathering support for engineers in the fab when issues occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform both routine and non-routine maintenance of the following toolset: lithography and at times: dry/wet etch, plasma cleans, PVD, metrology, bonder (wafer/wire), test, and other modules
- Maintain equipment and process calibration according to tool SOPs
- Assist with routine and non-routine facilities issues, including chemical waste disposal, restocking of gown room items and other supplies
- Participate in environmental, health, and safety programs
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant, hands-on semiconductor fabrication processing equipment experience. Lithography specialization preferred
- Strong ability to read and comprehend electrical, process gas, and liquid piping schematics
- Ability to perform tool upgrades/modifications to existing hardware
- Comfort working in a cleanroom environment, including following hazmat protocols
- Experience in wafer fab production equipment/engineering and production protocols
- Experience maintaining and operating a wide range of semiconductor/MEMS processing tools such as lithography (mask aligner, lithography wafer dispense/develop tool). Additional toolsets are as follows: PVD (evaporator, R&D type sputter tool), dry etch, wet etch, chemical benches, SEM, and other metrology tools
- Excellent communication skills, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, as well as the ability to work overtime if needed
The current shift hours are 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm.- Initial training will be in a shift with hours from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Overtime available (weekends) - based on company needs/requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Military background, Associate's Degree, vocational certificate, with 5+ years experience in semiconductor fab maintenance
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or science
- 4+ years experience servicing semiconductor equipment
- Experience in both production and research environments
- Experience working with small teams or small companies/start-up work environments.
- Additional industry experience
- Manual wafer handling experience
Expectations
- The candidate will be responsible for the Rigetti Fremont wafer fab tool upkeep/scheduled PM and repair during unscheduled PM
- Candidate must have a minimum total of 7 years of experience as an equipment maintenance technician in four of the major areas (lithography, vacuum deposition, dry etch, wet etch, metrology, back end processes such as bonding) or 3 years as a specialist on one of the areas above
- Have the technical skills to develop creative solutions to equipment problems, including hands-on responsibilities like electrical engineering, maintenance, safety
- Must be familiar with every piece of equipment, how it functions, how and when to repair it, etc.
- Skills and knowledge to make equipment run most efficiently
- Know the operational specification and the limits on how the equipment can run safely
- Candidate should be equipped to troubleshoot faulty or inoperable equipment when necessary
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure that the facilities and equipment that support our labs are maintained and are running correctly
- Recommend and implement any improvements to the wafer processing tools (major focus) and building/facilities (minor focus) that are needed or required
- Develop new processes and systems to maintain critical operations for the wafer processing tools, including the following: Generate specifications and/or develop and implement a remote monitoring system of all equipment; provide warning of facilities deviation from target in order to highlight possible equipment failure; present ideas and solutions to the internal customers (i.e. attend and present ideas and plans in on-site/virtual meetings)
Duties
Wafer fab tool uptime management: Ensure proper tool operations and safety protocols are maintained. Work with our EH&S consultant to ensure compliance with all EH&S federal/state and local municipalities, also responsible for routine inspections for regular fire and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers/ sprinklers). Assist in maintain SDS (formerly MSDS) logbook for any chemicals that enter the building
Vendor/Contractor Management: Project management of tool major PM. Assist in determining the equipment and supply needs to support the function of the wafer fab processing tools and it’s related the facility’s upkeep (i.e. PCW filter changes). Assist in managing the following areas: Wafer fab, wafer fab warehouse (spare parts)
Facilities and Building Maintenance: Manage and execute plans/projects to maintain and improve current building facilities. This encompasses all equipment that supports the building. This includes building security items – i.e. badge readers for access. Assist in manage/execute critical system maintenance (PCW, Power, HVAC, CDA, Backup Power, Workspaces). Ensure waste management chemical waste is properly disposed of according to state and federal laws and also maintain records and associated paperwork
Facilities Engineering Support: Support new installations and existing equipment needed to support the fab equipment to function properly – for example, process cooling water
Participate in the Fremont ERT (Emergency Response Team): Chemical Spills, Incident response, CPR & FA training, Quarterly meeting. Respond to incidents that may arise on a 24/7 basis (considered an emergency)
Provide storage management solutions by working with engineering groups (items in the storage areas are managed by other groups).
