Join the power movement as a Quality Engineer
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is looking for a dedicated Quality Engineer to play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards for our SPARC project. This position involves a hands-on approach to the manufacturing process, non-conformance management, quality control inspections, and involvement in the assembly and construction verification stages, ensuring the highest quality outcomes.
What you'll do:
- Lead and manage Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs) to prevent new non-conformances
- Maintain and update Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans
- Ensure timely execution of Quality Control (QC) inspections and conduct final quality reviews of manufactured components
- Review inspection data trends to identify quality issues and areas for improvement
- Proactively follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for timely resolution
- Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) area, overseeing the disposition of non-conforming materials
- Support the assembly and construction phases by verifying and validating processes and components
- Work closely with different teams to ensure consistent quality standards throughout all project phases
- Develop and implement quality inspection methods and measurement systems
- Analyze manufacturing data and conduct statistical analyses to identify and implement quality improvements
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, or Manufacturing Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment
- ISO 9001-2015, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis, PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), APQP
- GD&T and Metrology
- Knowledge of NDE (non-destructive evaluation) methods including dye penetrant, ultrasonic, computerized tomography, and x-ray
- Minitab or JMP, MS Excel (including VBA), MS Visio
- Excellent communication and organization skills
Bonus points:
- Experience with Welding Process and Nondestructive Testing
- Experience with assembly of large metallic components
- Experience with CMM or Romer Arm
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Perform activities such as typing, standing, and sitting, for extended periods of time
- Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics
- Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call or long hours
