About the job

About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.

Combining decades of research, top talent and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future.

We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised over $2 billion in capital – more than any other fusion energy company in the U.S.

Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.

If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.

Join the power movement as a Quality Engineer

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is looking for a dedicated Quality Engineer to play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards for our SPARC project. • Proactively follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for timely resolution
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) area, overseeing the disposition of non-conforming materials
  • Support the assembly and construction phases by verifying and validating processes and components
  • Work closely with different teams to ensure consistent quality standards throughout all project phases
  • Develop and implement quality inspection methods and measurement systems
  • Analyze manufacturing data and conduct statistical analyses to identify and implement quality improvements

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment
  • ISO 9001-2015, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Capability Analysis, PFMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), APQP
  • GD&T and Metrology
  • Knowledge of NDE (non-destructive evaluation) methods including dye penetrant, ultrasonic, computerized tomography, and x-ray
  • Minitab or JMP, MS Excel (including VBA), MS Visio
  • Excellent communication and organization skills

Bonus points:

  • Experience with Welding Process and Nondestructive Testing
  • Experience with assembly of large metallic components
  • Experience with CMM or Romer Arm

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, and sitting, for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics
