Role Overview
CarGurus’ looking to hire a Technical Fellow as part of our Engineering Platform team to help us drive towards highly-scalable, resilient, cloud-architected services and applications that address our long term business goals. We are constantly modernizing our technology and are looking for someone who is experienced in architecting cloud-first services on top of AWS cloud while ensuring they provide a great developer experience.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the architectural design and strategy to achieve scalable, reliable, and secure cloud-architected services within AWS
- Make specific recommendations of AWS technologies and offerings which complement or replace internally developed systems to accelerate delivery and reduce long-term maintenance.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team, mentoring junior engineers, conducting code reviews, and promoting a culture of engineering excellence operating in the cloud.
- Drive the adoption of best practices for cloud-native development, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize architectural requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
- Drive platform innovation and modernization initiatives, evaluating emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance developer productivity, improve operational efficiency, and optimize costs.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on platform initiatives, solicit feedback, and address concerns or issues.
- Lead efforts to optimize platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency, leveraging cloud-native services and infrastructure.
Who you are:
- 10+ years of experience in software and systems architecture with at least 5 years experience in AWS architecture.
- Experience with helping organizations manage iterative cloud transformation while delivering value at each stage of progress.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services.
- Comfortable operating in a wide array of software languages such as: Java, JavaScript, Golang, and Python.
- Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Prometheus, and GitHub.
- Experienced software engineer with a deep understanding of architecture, cloud computing, and platform engineering.
- Excellent communication skills and can effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and forward-thinking, constantly seeking out opportunities to innovate and drive the evolution of the platform.
- Committed to ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of production systems and services, and takes pride in delivering value to customers through a robust and resilient platform.
- Passionate about improving developer productivity and efficiency through the adoption of best practices, automation, and tooling.
