About the job
At Elastic, we have a simple goal: to tackle the world's data problems with products that delight and inspire. As the company behind the popular open source projects — Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, and Beats — we help people around the world do great things with their data. From stock quotes to social media streams, NGINX logs to WordPress blogs, our products are extending what's possible with data, delivering on the promise that good things come from connecting the dots. The Elastic family unites employees across 30+ countries into one coherent team, while the broader community spans across over 100 countries.
We are currently looking to hire for this position on the East Coast of the US. Relocation is not offered.
About the role:
We're looking for a dedicated JavaScript Engineer to join our Observability team, a full-stack team of JavaScript engineers that evolve and maintain the Elastic Observability product. Elasticsearch is a powerful and efficient datastore for our customers' logs, metrics, and application traces. Our team builds and maintains features and products that allow our users to quickly gain insights from these data, including APM, Infrastructure Observability, and Logs solutions as well as high-performance alerting, SLOs, and incident management.
Our team is often asked to innovate new and creative solutions to difficult customer problems, which means we're always learning, too. How do we automatically collect data from common data sources? Can we store it more efficiently ? Can we improve the way we extract insights from observability data? Can we make incident management and root cause analysis easier for the people who use our products? All of these aspects are important parts of building a world-class observability product that our users are happy to spend time in every day.
What you'll be doing:
- Author code alongside other dedicated engineers supporting the Observability team’s mission.
- Partner with data analysts, product managers and designers to build, test, and release features that improve users' observability experience.
- Write and maintain high-quality TypeScript code.
- Participate in code reviews for your team and other teams.
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
What you bring along:
- You care deeply about the design and quality of the features you ship.
- You have 3+ years working in a JavaScript-focused role.
- You're passionate about JavaScript or web development in general.
- TypeScript experience is a plus.
- You demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- You have the ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed team.
- You have experience with and/or curiosity to learn Observability concepts including incident management, SLO strategy, entity definition, and more!
