About ConductorAI

(Due to the nature of our work, we can only hire US Citizens.

At ConductorAI, our mission is to help the government move faster. Our core product leverages AI to enable the secure and expedient classification and dissemination of information in the Department of Defense. We are currently on multiple DoD contracts, and have raised a $4M seed round from Haystack, Humba, Sunflower, Altman Capital, and others. As an early-stage tech startup, we pride ourselves on delivering state of the art AI applications that address the unique challenges faced by the Department of Defense (DoD) and related agencies.

Position Overview
As an early DevOps engineer, you'll help build and deploy different configurations of our application into a variety of environments, including numerous air-gapped classified networks. You'll contribute to defining and improving our system architecture, building out CI/CD pipelines, writing and improving Helm charts, and informing our deployment strategy. As our first dedicated DevOps hire, you'll have an opportunity to massively shape how we ship code into highly sensitive environments, and to confront interesting infrastructure problems around deploying LLMs and other large models efficiently and robustly. We are seeking an engineer with a generalist skillset and attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness and ability to take ownership of hard problems. You’ll be working on a small tight knit technical team, with the opportunity to help define and mature our architecture and processes as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

System Design: Help design the architecture of a system with multiple AI models, a set of backend APIs, and a frontend web application.
Docker: Help write and improve the Dockerfiles of the various pieces of our system, to build efficient and hardened docker images with minimal CVEs.
Kubernetes: Help write and improve our Helm charts that define our deployments into a variety of different Kubernetes clusters, including those backed by cloud infrastructure as well as on-prem.
CI/CD: Help improve our Github actions CI/CD processes to make updates to our application and it's dependencies as painless and robust as possible.
System Accreditation: Help us make technical decisions to enable continued compliance with a variety of standards, such as FedRAMP.
Strategy and Culture: As a core member of our team, contribute to company strategy, nurture and shape our budding culture, and take on diverse responsibilities as we evolve.

Qualifications

Be eligible for a US DoD security clearance (more here)
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proactive mindset, with a knack for identifying opportunities and taking initiative
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD
Experience with system design
Experience interacting with end-users
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles/best practices
Proficiency in python and typescript is a plus
Experience with LLMs and especially open source LLMs is a plus

What We Offer

The ability to have real impact, and to shape the future of an early stage startup that has closed over $3M of contracts and $4M of funding
The chance to use state-of-the-art tech to solve novel problems with real mission impact
The opportunity to define your role through time as we grow
A flexible, remote work environment, with a focus on the East Coast
Competitive salary and equity upside
Comprehensive health care, unlimited PTO, 401k, and parental leave

The base salary range for this role is between $150K-$190k with the opportunity for significant equity, commensurate with a seed stage opportunity. However, this is just an estimate - starting pay will be based on a number of factors, including qualifications & experience.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification.

At ConductorAI, we’re committed to building a diverse inclusive and authentic workplace. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with everything in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right person for this or future roles.
