About the job

The Hub
Located at:
City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, CA
Did you see our segment on ABC7 News Bay Area? (Full video available on our website https://www.thehubpack.com/).

Launched in June 2024, The Hub is a first-of-its-kind gym for dogs that promotes lifelong learning and wellness. We are revolutionizing the world of dog guardianship and addressing the obesity and loneliness epidemics by celebrating the positive impact humans and dogs have on each other.

Similar to Equinox and other human gyms, members of The Hub enjoy free group training classes, expert speaker events, and community-building fun! It's a positive reinforcement, fear-free space for everyone in the dog community to learn, play, grow, and work together (yes, many member use us as a dog-friendly We Work!).

The Facility
The Hub is a multi-functional facility that equally supports the needs of humans and their dogs. It can be reconfigured for a variety of different kinds of activities, but is primarily comprised of two distinct zones:
The Lounge: A versatile space featuring coworking setups, evening socials, community-building activities, games nights, and speaker series with human and canine professionals. It's designed to foster connections and enrich both personal and professional lives.
The Lab: Equipped with rubber flooring and specialized exercise equipment, this area supports drop-in self-paced dog training, private and group classes, virtual live-stream events, and dog studies.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking a self-motivated individual who loves a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment (and, of course, being around dogs and their humans!) and is interested in learning about the cutting edge of dog psychology and fear-free training methods. The broader vision of Pack Animals includes an app that incorporates the philosophies, education, and community of The Hub, so this position would also be ideal for someone interested in tech start-ups and business strategy. For the right person, we would consider expanding the roles and responsibilities of the position to include helping with the tech platform side of the business.
Please respond to the application questions when applying.

Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building & Sales: People often walk into The Hub to learn about our offering and find out how to get started. Gather info about their needs, match them with The Hub's offering, and get them to sign up for an Eval (the first step for all dogs joining The Hub).
Schedule Coordination: Monitor our daily schedule of Hub Readiness Evals, group classes, private classes, and 15 minute 1:1s to ensure streamlined operations.
Record Management: Monitor and maintain member records for vaccination status, Eval outcome (temperament test), and other relevant details about the dog and its family.
Member Engagement: Send targeted markeing campaigns to drive engagement, welcome members back to The Hub, check them in at the front desk, and answer any questions they may have.
Transitions & Facility Management: Helping members calmly arrive and depart is critical, especially during transitions in the schedule (one class ends, another begins). Given that the space is multi-use, it will be necessary to proactively transform the space with furniture and technology to support various events and activities.
Trainer Support: We expect 60% of the role will be front-desk-oriented, and 40% will be actively providing support to the head instrucor in group classes and private lessons. Outstanding candidates will have the opportunity to shadow an expert positive reinforcement trainer/behaviorist, interact with our expert advisory board, and eventually run their own training sessions at The Hub.

Candidate Profile
Adaptable and self-motivated: Ability to context switch between questions from prospects walking in, members arriving, and executing other front-desk computer tasks. During quieter periods, it's critical to be able to stay productive by identifying work that needs to be done and keeping the owners up to date on progress and accomplishments.
Communicative and Engaging: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with prospects and members. This doesn't necessarily mean extroverted, but it does mean rising to the occasion and selling the vision of The Hub with the kind of passion that increases conversions.
Observant and Proactive: Ability to anticipate and mitigate potential issues through keen observation of canine (and human) behavior.
Team Player: Collaborative spirit with a readiness to receive and apply constructive feedback.
Aspiring Dog Trainer or Intellectually Curious: Baseline understanding of positive reinforcement / fear free dog training techniques with an interest to learn more about canine and human psychology.
Problem-Solver: Since we are a new business, there are many opportunities to improve operations and drive efficiencies. Ideal candidates will be motivated by the chance to fix things that are currently broken or could be made better. This role is not for anyone that prefers things remain static from week to week.

Qualifications
Education: High school diploma/GED. College degree preferred.
Professional Skills: Sales/customer service experience, reliable/punctual, professional, computer literate, energetic, and friendly.
Interpersonal Skills: Must be personable, outgoing, and capable of effective, professional communication in person, over the phone, and in messages.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks requiring physical activity, including standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and moving around frequently.

Additional Requirements
Availability: Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and perform opening or closing shifts.
Transportation: Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality.
Benefits
Training and Development: Comprehensive on-the-job training by experienced entrepreneurs, access to expert advisors, and potential to grow as part of an exciting new venture.
Perks: Attractive discounts on retail and membership services.

Employment Type
Part-time/Full-time: 30-40 hours per week, flexibility in shift assignments including opening and closing shifts and the ability to work weekends.

Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications, and will be regularly reconsidered based on performance. Individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact to the business will be rewarded in kind.

Work Location:
In person. San Ramon, CA

This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the role and is not exhaustive. Responsibilities, duties, and requirements may be added or changed as deemed necessary by the company. Additional tasks may also be assigned to ensure proper department operations.
