Principal Engineer, API Platform Services

About the role

The Netskope UI provides customers with a single unified view into the Netskope Platform, allowing them to fully utilize the rich set of cloud security features Netskope provides. We work on both the frontend and web application backend, and we work closely with other backend teams developing cool technologies such as Machine Learning, Threat, DLP, IaaS, APIs and more. In addition to the Netskope UI, we are also responsible for the Netskope REST API Gateway which exposes our REST API’s to customers.

In this role you will be responsible for building the next generation of the Netskope Web API Platform. • Collaborate effectively with peers and partners to find opportunities and distill requirements, propose technical strategy and architecture, and tackle exciting technical problems
• Establish, recommend, and model best practices of distributed systems for reliability, performance, monitoring, security, compliance, interoperability, usability, correctness, consistency, simplicity, etc
• Experience with API design standards, best practices (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI 3.0, REST, JSON, gRPC, Protobuf), and API-first design principles.
• Drive the overall technical direction and strategy for API’s, front-end and UI backend development, making decisions on frameworks, tools, and best practices
• Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.).
• Mentor engineers across teams and locations

What you will be doing

• Collaborate effectively with peers and partners to find opportunities and distill requirements, propose technical strategy and architecture, and tackle exciting technical problems
• Lead the vision and execution API Gateway, UI backend infrastructure for Netskope Cloud Security platform
• Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to ensure a seamless user experience, from concept to implementation
• Mentor engineers across teams and locations

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
• 15 years of experience with software engineering in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms
• 10 years of experience designing, testing, launching, and maintaining distributed systems
• 8 years of experience setting strategy and direction as a technical leader

Education

• BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred
