We are seeking a highly skilled Data Architect to design and manage a cloud-based analytics platform for large federal organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing data architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data governance frameworks. This role requires expertise in data modeling techniques, data quality management, data security practices, and the integration of GIS data for spatial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement data architectures for large-scale data processing, including data lakes, data warehouses, and data pipelines.
• Develop and optimize data models, including star and snowflake schemas, to support efficient data retrieval and analysis.
• Work with various data sources, including structured, unstructured, and GIS data, integrating them into cohesive data systems.
• Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, GIS specialists, and business analysts, to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Design and implement ETL processes to ingest, clean, and transform data, including spatial data, for analytical use.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect, with expertise in data warehousing, data lakes, data modeling, and GIS data integration. Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Familiarity with GIS software and tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms for spatial data analysis. Demonstrated excellent presentation collateral creation, presentation skills, and polished communication abilities, with a strong capacity to persuade and influence stakeholders.
• 10+ years of experience in the data engineering field, including extensive experience in database management, ETL processes, and data integration.
• Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), including relational and NoSQL databases, and spatial databases like PostGIS.
• Proficiency with ETL tools and data integration frameworks, including the handling of spatial data.
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and associated data services.
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices for data security and compliance.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
