Full-Stack Software Engineer

About Us

Opteo is a tech start-up building an optimisation tool for the Google Ads platform. Our mission is simple: help businesses do more with Google Ads and improve day-to-day work for Google Ads people. Engineers at Opteo build the software used by thousands every day to save them time, money and increase the value of their campaigns, ads and keywords.

The engineering team is looking for full-stack developers excited by API design, building top quality user facing features, increasing performance across the stack and working with stakeholders throughout the company. We believe in giving you the space you need to learn and grow professionally as a developer whilst on the job.

Opteo is a small team of 15 people, of which 4 full-stack developers, so every piece of code you write, review and deploy will matter.

What you'll do

• Work across our tech stack, from adding new features in the application to new endpoints in the API to optimising SQL queries
• Work closely with product and design to scope out and implement new user-facing features
• Improve application and API performance with in-depth profiling and benchmarking
• Add support for new advertising platforms, such as Microsoft and Meta, into our application stack
• Assist data, marketing and customer support teams by helping with customer facing issues and building custom micro-frontends for internal use
• Improve our developer tooling and workflow by iterating on our internal CLI, dashboards, monitoring and development servers

You may be a good fit for this role if you:

• Have 3+ years of experience as a developer shipping a high-quality product, freelancing or working on open-source libraries
• Strive to write high-quality software in service of a high-quality product
• Are able to connect many completely new and sometimes older different APIs and services together
• Are interested in working in open-source and giving back to our community (google-ads-api currently, but we'll be making more parts of our codebase public in the future)
• Can work with all relevant stakeholders in your team and projects, including those outside of the engineering team
• Understand the benefits of writing clear and concise code over complex abstractions that can't be followed by others
• You're a quick learner and able to adapt to our codebase. We don't expect you to be an expert in all the tools or libraries we use.
• Speak and write excellent english.

• Vue 3 web application built with the Composition API and SWR for data fetching
• RPC & REST based JSON API using Node, MySQL and Redis in the backend
• The latest TypeScript features across the stack

• Job queues processing 1m+ tasks per day
• Hosted on Linode and RDS
• GitHub, Slack, Notion
