About the role
In the role of Staff Engineer, you will report to the Sr. Engineering manager of e-commerce.A Staff Engineer is a senior-level position that combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. The role typically involves making architecture decisions, leading projects, mentoring engineers, and contributing to strategic decisions within the organization.
Core Areas of Responsibility
- Staff engineer will lead, design, develop, and maintain solutions on the Crunchyroll e-commerce platform.
- Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and company standards.
- Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Assume responsibility for architecture, offering comprehensive system perspectives and design direction.
- This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement scalable and efficient backend solutions that meet business requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions and provide technical insights.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead efforts to continuously improve the engineering development lifecycle.
- This role will primarily involve working in an agile development environment, collaborating with onsite and remote team members. Occasional participation in client meetings or calls may be required.
About You
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 12+ years of technical engineering experience.
- Proven experience in leading and delivering complex engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, AngularJS, Bootstrap, and SFCC Scripting (ISML, Pipelines, Controllers).
- Experience with SFCC Business Manager configuration and customizations.
- Familiarity with integration technologies such as REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, and XML.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce concepts and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Experience working with vendors/contractors is a plus.

The Crunchyroll eCommerce team is dedicated to enhancing the online shopping experience for anime fans worldwide. This team focuses on developing and managing Crunchyroll's digital store, which offers a variety of merchandise, including apparel, collectibles, and exclusive items inspired by popular anime series. By leveraging cutting-edge eCommerce technologies and data-driven strategies, the team ensures a seamless, engaging, and personalized shopping journey for users.
