Ventera is looking for a Postgres Database Engineer to work on a cloud-based conservation analytics platform as part of a SAFe Agile scrum team. The successful candidate will be an experienced Postgres database engineer who has supported open-source and ESRI technologies in the front-end and back-end and ideally has worked with geospatial scientific data in an analytic capacity.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage performant Postgres geospatial database to support conservation analytics platform
Develop complex back-end spatial queries using Postgres and/or PostGIS
Implement and manage open source and ESRI ETL jobs and data pipelines in an AWS environment
Requirements
Proficiency in data engineering concepts, including ETL processing, data warehousing, schema design and optimization/data modeling
3 years of experience using PostgreSQL/PostGIS to complete geospatial processing
3 years of experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS data tuning, permissions management
3 years of experience publishing services and creating web mapping applications using open-source web mapping or ESRI web mapping platforms.
Proficiency in FME model development
Proficiency in Python
Excellent communication skills
Preferred
Experience working with NRCS conservation datasets
1+ years of experience leveraging PostGIS for geospatial integration and automation
Experience with QGIS and ESRI for visualizing geospatial data
SAFe certification or experience working in an agile environment
Experience supporting a development team leveraging Git as a code repository
