Requirements:
- Available for extensive travel, road warrior.
- Will need to travel 6-8 weeks at a time
- Must know how to install network cameras
- Be able to terminate cat6 and RJ59
- Flexible and willing to work on-call, early morning, day, night, and weekend shifts depending on the requirements of the job.
- Data Cable Technician with CAT5e, fiber optic, and network experience.
- Experience in low voltage cabling, smart hands network replacement, and telephony.
- Knowledgeable of all industry standards (NEC, TIA/EIA, BICSI).
- Industry-specific certifications (BICSI, Systimax, Panduit, Beldon, Corning) are a huge plus.
- Will primarily be installing new or relocating existing Cat5e cabling from network switches to devices within a retail store. Fiber installation and termination experience is a plus.
- Cleanup and management of pre-existing low voltage cables in the ceiling and in network closets.
- Install and build-out wall mount network cabinets and floor-mount network racks.
- Communicate with on-site customer representatives to determine schedules and timelines for when your work needs to take place.
- Highly proficient with the use of smartphones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn internal systems.
- Travel as required, mileage compensation for use of personal vehicle
- Extended travel away from home may be necessary, typically not exceeding 1-2 weeks in duration.
- Ability to consistently complete projects within budget, on time, and in a safe manner.
- Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.
- Knowledgeable in identifying independent colors and learning color codes.
- Execute advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces.
- Ability to operate a BOOM or scissor lift and work at heights.
- Has basic telecommunication tools, PPE, and reliable transportation.
- Must have knowledge of cabling infrastructure.
- Experience in conduit installation is a plus.
- Maintain the company’s high standard of quality and professionalism with regard to workmanship, customer relations, coworkers, behavior, and appearance.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; no DUI or DWI in the last three years.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various cabling infrastructure.
- Provide basic setup, installation, and testing services for the following: Phone Systems, Wireless systems (AP, Antennas), and Network devices (routers, switches, servers).
- Ability to provide basic setup, installation, and testing services for the following: Wireless systems (AP, Antennas), and Network devices (routers, switches, servers).
- Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work.
- Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
- Perform site surveys, and develop a scope of work and materials list.
- Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and inner duct.
- Conduct tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational.
- Troubleshoot issues with cable networks to ensure the proper functioning and to ensure the system meets local, county, state, or federal codes; legal and/or insurance requirements.
- Adhere to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, or OSHA.
