Founding Engineer (Full Stack)

At Guac, we're on a mission to solve grocery food waste with predictive ML. We forecast exactly how much of each product will sell, to put an end to the millions of tons of food that goes to waste every single day due to bad inventory planning.

We’re currently working with major supermarket chains worldwide (including Fortune 500 retailers), and we’re backed by Y Combinator, 1984 Ventures, Collaborative Fund, and angels from Instacart, Jane Street, and Citadel Securities.

We’re seeking a talented engineer to join our team and help shape the future of grocery!

About the Role

As a founding engineer, you’ll play a role in a number of different technical tasks - ranging from data cleaning and ingestion work (Python) to frontend development (React/React Native).

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing and maintaining high-performance web and mobile/tablet applications using React JS and React Native, respectively
• Designing and maintaining scalable, secure backend services using Python (FastAPI), Postgres, and event-driven architecture
• Utilizing Python + Dask to handle large data cleaning and ingestion pipelines, which supports our core forecasting engine
• If you have a background in ML: playing a part in optimizing our ML architecture + modeling (PyTorch, Optuna, Dask)

About You

• Passion for solving complex problems and creating efficient, elegant full-stack solutions that meet business and user needs
• Extensive experience in building applications from start to finish
• Strong ownership mentality, capable of taking projects from concept to completion with minimal supervision
• Deep understanding of both frontend and backend technologies, including React, React Native, Python (FastAPI), and Postgres
