About the job
In your role you will be responsible for working with the current hardware database team as a Network System Administrator. You will be expected to maintain and improve the networking equipment in a mixed Linus/Windows based environment within the Remote Monitoring and Logging System(RMLS). This position will also require you to be able to communicate well in meetings, design reviews, and team briefings.
You will also be responsible for the following:
- Configure network hardware (servers, routers, and switches)
- Manage firewall and load balancers
- Upgrade, Troubleshoot, and Repair computer networks
- Assist network architects with the design of network models
- Deploy and update software
- Manage servers and their operating systems
- Implement security measures
- Develop test processes and procedures/perform tests
- Manage cloud and physical network storage
- Create and update network related documentation
- Attend and lead meetings, design reviews, working groups and briefings
- Report issues/ problems and recommend solutions
- Support other team members in resolving complex issues/provide expert guidance on best practices, including documentation and testing solutions
- Interface with outside vendors (FTI) to resolve issues
- RMLS Field Support 24/7 as needed
Qualifications:
B.S. of Computer Science, Math, or related technical field with a minimum of 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and 20 years of related work experience in a computer science or math field
or
Master’s Degree in any field with a minimum of 30 semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and 16 years related work experience in a computer science or math field
or
PhD or Doctoral in a related field with a minimum of 30 semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and 6 years of related work experience in a computer science or math field
Technical proficiency of the following:
- Knowledge of network infrastructure
- Ability to implement, administer and troubleshoot network devices
- Understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
- Digital Security,
- Checkpoint firewalls
- And F5 load balancers/proxy servers
- Knowledge of Linux
- Excellent customer relations, writing and verbal skills
- Ability to adapt to an agile environment
- Ability to work in a team environment and work together toward team goals
