Machine Learning Lead

MatX's mission is to make the world’s best AI models run as efficiently as allowed by physics, bringing the world years ahead in AI quality and availability.We are looking for a leader who is excited about systems-focused ML research, to lead our team of ML researchers.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead, mentor, and continue to build a world-class team of researchers developing machine learning models that leverage our hardware
• Continue to develop and implement a strategic vision for the ML research team that aligns with the company’s goals and other teams’ timelines
• Oversee the development of novel model architectures optimized for our hardware
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and their leads on HW architecture from an ML perspective
• Lead the ML research team’s contribution to HW<>SW<>MLR codesign

Requirements:

• Deep experience doing neural net model architecture research
• Prior experience in one of the following:
  • Lead at a large ML team
  • Been an equal-first author on a highly cited (>100) ML paper
  • Been a core contributor on a large scale LLM pre-training model
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning research
• Experience managing and growing an ML research or engineering team a plus
• Experience with HW<>SW codesign and/or experience in the AI accelerator or HW space a plus

Compensation: The US base salary for this full-time position is $120,000 - $400,000 + equity + benefits
