About the job
About us
We’re looking to hire a backend engineer to help us to build better collaboration software for the global supply chain. Billions of dollars are wasted due to inefficiency in communication and collaboration on the operational side of supply chain companies.
We’re at a unique point in time to reshape how trillions of dollars of goods move around the world, and this is an amazing opportunity to build fast and make massive of impact in an industry that is incredibly critical. The data about a container shipment is almost as important as the shipment itself, yet it all still moves through
Being an early stage startup, we’re most of all looking for someone who can optimize for velocity and understands the trade-offs that need to be made as we explore product directions, and is comfortable quickly shifting gears. Lots of space to build cool stuff, and a ton of interesting engineering challenges left to solve.
We’re a small product team who have worked on anything from foundational technology at Flexport, self-driving cars, to core AI experiences and products at Google.
We’re backed by leading investors and are aiming to bring a high level of craft to an industry that runs on incredibly outdated software. We've got revenue and have built a product that people love. Now it's time to scale it up.
About the role
You'll be responsible for building out our backend infrastructure to reliably process millions of events and workflows per day. It's currently built in TypeScript, but we're flexible on exploring different approaches.
Ideally looking for candidates with at least five years of production coding experience at a high caliber and high velocity team. Experience with complex event processing and (distributed) workflow engines is a strong plus.
- You enjoy working with other team members and customers to understand and solve their problems
- Ability to write clear and maintainable code with a strong passion and emphasis for code quality and quality testing
- Pragmatic approach to software development; how to structure programs and decompose problems, apply patterns, and select the right paradigm for a task
- Clear communication skills with the ability to understand and translate business requirements into technology solutions
- Collaborative and eager mindset to tackle challenges and contribute to design and architecture decisions
This role is on-site in Chicago. Given how early we are and how fast things are moving, you can't beat spending time together.
