About the job
Distribusion is the world’s leading ground transportation marketplace and gives travellers seamless access to ground transportation online, from search to ticket purchase. We have built a cutting-edge B2B technology platform that connects bus, rail, and ferry operators in 70+ countries with the biggest online retailers, including Google Maps and Booking.com.
We are shaping the future of travel and building the largest global network of transport providers and retailers. Having grown 10x in the past year, we are one of the fastest-growing startups in travel. Backed by three leading VCs (Creandum, Northzone, and Lightrock), we are ready to push beyond following our recent €30 m Series B.
We seek a Director of Finance to lead our Accounting and Finance function. The Finance team offers a unique opportunity as you spend time in diverse markets like Asia, Europe, and LATAM. As we are still relatively early on our journey, you can really shape the future of Distribusion with us. This position will report directly to the Distribusion CFO.
What you will do:
Lead, manage and further develop the Accounting and Finance function, ensuring the achievement of objectives and delivering high-quality work.
Accountability for financial operations, including Invoicing, Accounting, Controlling, budgeting, liquidity and cash flow management.
Manage clearing and settlement on a global scale.
Continuously monitor and drive process improvements within the Accounting and Finance function, leveraging automation and technology (software systems) to streamline workflows and increase efficiency.
Organise structured internal and external reporting that is compliant with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Build and maintain effective relationships with Banks, Accounting Offices, Financial Authorities, and other stakeholders, and oversee external service providers.
Monitor and manage the company's cash flow and foreign exchange, ensuring that there is adequate liquidity to meet the company's obligations.
Monitor and analyse key financial metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for informed decision-making.
Collaborate closely with the CFO and senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies aligning with the company's goals and objectives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product, technology, commercial, retail partnerships and operations, to support strategic initiatives, business decisions, and financial planning.
Provide guidance and support during due diligence processes for potential funding rounds.
Provide leadership, development and motivation, and set clear team and individual goals to develop and promote a sustainable team structure.
Workplace:
We are ideally seeking for this role to be located in our HQ in Berlin, Germany. However, we are a remote-first company with teams located globally and will also consider applications from elsewhere.
Job requirements
Who you are:
We're looking for a strong technical accountant who can push boundaries and develop new ways of thinking about numbers and reporting results.
7yrs+ PQE and Big 4 trained.
Industry experience in travel and/or payments is preferred.
Experience leading high-performing teams (10+ people).
Strategist who can drive the global growth of a fast-growing company.
Strong strategic, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Positive “can do” attitude and eagerness to own and take responsibility for projects and processes.
You can demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles, taxation rules, international regulations, and financial processes.
Transactional exposure / M&A experience is helpful.
Fluent in English (our company language) is required, and German is a nice to have.
What you can expect:

We value agility! We’re constantly updating our tech stack and offer the best possible tools to ensure all of our in-house engineers, partners, and carriers benefit from cutting-edge, efficient solutions.
