Staff Engineer, Quality & Validation

Location: Flexible Shenzhen. This role allows the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to the office location.

The Role

As a Product Quality Engineer for GoPro cameras and accessories you will be responsible for ensuring hardware meets GoPro standards for quality and reliability as well as reporting on the overall health of the product to management teams.

In this role you will drive REL Testing and FA/CA activities with cross functional teams. You will have a direct impact on driving the highest quality standards to ensure GoPro continues to deliver the most rugged and reliable products in the market.

What You Will Do

• Serve as Quality & Reliability Engineering lead for products throughout the product development life cycle, starting in the Proto phase. Be the responsible individual for health of the product including cross functional performance.
• Define product testing plans, test methods and acceptance criteria in collaboration with cross functional teams.
• Validate/analyze test data, collaborate and guide failure analysis, and drive corrective action with cross functional teams during the development phase to improve product performance.
• Create and present management reports highlighting product risk exposure and next steps.
• Achieve GoPro quality standards by utilizing tools and techniques including statistical analysis, SPC, DOE, DFx, and project tracking software (Jira).
• Participate in post product launch efforts and early field failure analysis to establish root cause and implement corrective actions

Skills We’re Excited About

• Ability and will to travel throughout APAC to work with partners, suppliers and CMs
• BSME
• Six sigma experience and is highly desirable
• 7+ years’ experience in consumer electronics or relevant industries
• 4+ years’ experience in New Product Introduction environment
• Professional working proficiency in English both written and verbal
• Identify, evaluate, and solve complex challenges
• Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills
• Effective presentation, project and resource management skills
• Previous knowledge or experience with design tools / CAD systems
• Exposure and working knowledge of key commodities such as LCD’s, Optical components, batteries, PCBs, molded and machined parts
