WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 databases for our platform
- This includes, but is not limited to: administration, analysis, support, proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, recoverability, failover, security, installation, and design
- Troubleshoot challenging performance issues, develop proactive measures, and trend analysis
- Communicate Real-time updates on database events and issues to users and development teams
- Monitor database events, investigate potential problems and issues raised by users, and continuously optimize system performance through troubleshooting and tuning
- Work with engineering teams to automate processes and promote rapid response to database issues
- Design and develop proactive tools and measures to optimize performance and take our platform to the next level of scale
- Monitor ongoing capacity and implement design and architecture changes as needed to improve global availability
- Maintain database configurations in compliance with established best practices
- Design and implement systems, policies, and procedures for backup and disaster recovery
- Install upgrades and patches to existing database servers
- Design and develop database code as needed
- Own and execute projects end to end
- Review and establish database migration processes
- Participate in on-call rotations (every 2-3 months) WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 5+ years of Database Administration experience supporting mission critical relational databases
- Proficiency with OLTP Database Environments.
- Good knowledge of relational database engine internals is a strong plus.
- Excellent performance optimization/tuning skills required.
- Considerable experience and knowledge of MSSQL 2019 or above and best practices
- Programming experience with PowerShell is desirable but not required.
- Programming experience with C#/.NET is a big plus, but not required
- Experience configuring and administering MSSQL replication, Availability Groups, and Distributed Availability Groups, and Failover Clustering is desirable but not required.
- AWS Database Management, OLAP experience, and PostgresSQL experience are a plus, but not required.
- Dashboard creation using Grafana is a plus.
- Full systems lifecycle experience (from requirements gathering to delivery) of database projects
- Experience designing, building, installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining high-volume, large database systems
- Top-notch troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
- Experience with database design and management aspects for various compliance programs, such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) or PCI, is a big plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to document complex technical problems
