Head of Research

Overview:
At Tristero, we're building the first autonomous dark pool. We believe that dark pools will likely be the first breakthrough application of decentralized, private compute. We are seeking a candidate that possesses a deep understanding of cryptography, distributed systems, and a degree of familiarity with market infrastructure and cryptocurrencies. A PhD in cryptography or adjacent field is required. A strong product orientation to drive market-focused innovation is also a must.

Key Responsibilities:
Dark Compute Platform Development:

• Lead the design and implementation of our secure, low-latency compute platform.
• Architect and optimize dark pool infrastructure for scalability, security, and performance.
• Analyze performance of various approaches and contribute to industry benchmarks. Product Strategy and Market Fit:
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define product requirements and roadmap.
• Translate technical capabilities into market-driven solutions addressing customer needs. Hiring Strategy:
• Assist leadership in developing a hiring strategy for the cryptography team, potentially utilizing platforms like Twitter for outreach.

Ideal Profile:

• PhD in Cryptography, Computer Science or other related fields.
• Strong product orientation with a keen sense of market opportunities and customer needs.
• A high degree of familiarity with multiparty computation, zero knowledge proofs, and Trusted Execution Environments.
• Deep knowledge of cryptography and distributed systems, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing secure and scalable blockchain solutions.
• Targeted experience in zero-knowledge proofs and cryptographic protocols, preferably in the context of financial applications such as dark pools.
• Proven track record of translating technical innovation into successful market-driven products.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and influence strategic decision-making.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology and driving impactful change in the financial industry.
