Job Title: Firewall Upgrade Network Specialist
Pay Rate: $100- $120 per hour

Scheduled Work Hours:

Normal Business Hours, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week, with a mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work. Any additional hours worked beyond 35 per week are compensated accordingly.

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

  • Conduct analysis and design of network infrastructure, primarily utilizing Cisco technologies, ensuring minimal service disruption during network upgrades.
  • Create and implement Cisco configuration templates for both new and existing router/switch deployments.
  • Perform comprehensive testing of SNMP, syslog, NTP, and NetFlow functionalities.
  • Coordinate after-hours changes with relevant stakeholders, including ticket creation, approval processes, and addressing inquiries from OTI teams.
  • Investigate and resolve network issues, escalating to TAC support when necessary, and identifying root causes.
  • Maintain network documentation in compliance with OTI standards.
  • Execute decommissioning tasks, including removing legacy configurations, updating documentation, and adhering to OTI guidelines.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum twelve years of networking experience.
  • Proficiency in BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in large-scale environments.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in Cisco network installations, particularly in complex ring configurations.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst / Nexus Switches and NCS routers.
  • Proficiency in MPLS, EIGRP, iBGP, eBGP, IS-IS routing protocols.
  • Experience configuring CORE/PE and CPE routers/switches.
  • Comprehensive understanding of enterprise QoS solutions and management protocols.
  • Valid/current CCNP certification.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Highly self-motivated with a focus on customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Familiarity with project design review and network architectural design tools.
  • Knowledge of City of New York network infrastructure environments and processes.
