About the job
Overview
Create clear and concise help documentation to help users understand and effectively use our software. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and quality of our Support Center by writing new articles and updating existing ones. This requires a deep understanding of our product and the ability to simplify product features and use cases for a non-technical audience.
This is contract work based on an hourly rate with an expected time commitment of 10-12 hours per month. On occasion, we may have project sprints of updates which we’ll coordinate with you ahead of time.
After you’re established with us (a couple of months in), you could help look for opportunities to improve articles we haven’t assigned and expand the base hours.

What is Referral Rock?
Referral Rock is a B2B SaaS company that provides referral software to help businesses acquire new customers through word-of-mouth marketing (refer-a-friend, affiliate, partner marketing).
Our customers are marketers at businesses that are tech-enabled but not necessarily tech-savvy. Some are very seasoned and others are just starting.

Content Process
Our content creation process is designed for flexibility and efficiency. Most of the work is async with Zoom meetings reserved for more complex topics if needed. Here’s how we work:
1. Article Assignment:
- Receive assignments through Asana (we’ll provide access)
- Each assignment will include a short brief of the article or update, a short video highlighting key points, and references for context and depth
2. Async Work:
- Upon assignment, you’ll perform any additional research to understand the product feature or use case, ask follow-up questions (via Asana comments), and create an initial draft
- We’re flexible on deadlines as most requests are not time sensitive but as a rough guideline, initial drafts are complete within 7 days after assignment
3. Review and Feedback
- Once complete, you’ll submit your draft for review (via Asana)
- Expect 1-2 rounds of feedback to refine, clarify, or enhance the content
Skills and Experience
- Clear Writing Skills: Ability to write clear and concise help articles for a non-technical audience
- Technical Understanding: Familiarity with software and SaaS products, and ability to simplify complex features
- Research Proficiency: Skilled in researching to deepen understanding of product features
- Detail-Oriented: Strong focus on accuracy and detail in documentation
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to work async
