About the role
We're looking for a Finance Assistant to join our growing finance function. We’re looking to hire someone on a 6 month fixed term contract (FTC) to support Beam during a period of incredible growth.
Your key responsibility will be ensuring that everyone using Beam’s service gets what they need to leave homelessness: from that electrician training course, to tools or that rental deposit on the first home they’ve had in years.
But you’ll also get involved in other finance and operational tasks to support your fellow Beamers.
Responsibilities
*Maintaining our internal purchasing system in BeamForce *
- Processing Member Orders for items our beneficiaries need
- Booking training, checking deliveries and paying invoices for our beneficiaries
- Processing refunds & adhoc requests regarding beneficiary purchases
- Key point of contact for the operations team and wider teams surrounding beneficiary process requests
Management of our charity financial accounts in Xero
- Cash coding and reconciling transactions including donations received into our Charity, The Beam Foundation
- Maintenance of suspense accounts
- Contribute to month end processes

- Support the Finance Manager with claiming Gift Aid on behalf of The Beam Foundation
- Supporting with finance process improvements and projects
- Working closely with the Finance Manager and other finance and operations leads to ensure the continuing financial stability of the charity

You'll need
- Brilliant attention to detail - vulnerable people are relying on us
- Good knowledge of finance and/or accounting processes through experience or a relevant degree
- Advanced experience of working with spreadsheets (we use Google Sheets), using functions to manipulate data and pull out key information
- Time-management skills
- Ideal: knowledge of Xero (accounts payable and bank reconciliation, sales invoicing and journal inputting) and ideally Pleo
- Ideal: experience in an accounts payable role in a fast-paced environment
