Alation is seeking a talented and highly technical Engineering Manager to join our fast growing team in India. The ideal candidate will communicate fearlessly to build trust. We need leaders who take active roles in shaping the future of engineering while embodying our core values.

The Connectors team is an integral part of Alation Engineering as it is responsible for developing Connectors that enable Alation to connect to and extract metadata from various data sources. Alation Connector team owns and manages 60+ connectors across different datasource types (RDBMS, BI Sources, File Systems, ELT, NoSQL sources) Connector teams are the core of the Alation platform and own data pipelines that integrate, extract, and ingest metadata. We are reimagining how we deliver connectivity on the Alation platform through new frameworks, re-designed modular pipelines, and partnerships to accelerate time to market at scale.

What you'll do:

• Partner with product managers to gather and refine requirements.
• Design and implement features for the different connectors
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams from diverse geographical locations to gather design feedback and implement them
• Work with the engineering team to implement features with high quality
• Triage support escalations actively and address them to help our customers
• Seek diverse perspectives to drive bottom-up innovation and create buy-in from all technical stakeholders inside and outside the team.
• Develop, manage and deliver the operational vision for ConnectorsDrive the short-term and long-term objectives for the Connector teams.
• Think holistically in order to ensure the team fully understands its goals and objectives.

You should have:

• A Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Previously managed a team of 5+ engineers with responsibility for systems in production as a tech lead or a manager for at least 2+ years
• Technical skills: Experience developing products using either Java or Python
• An expert technical understanding of the intersection of development, connectivity to data sources
• Hands on experience leading your teams technically and understanding various technical aspects of the design/architecture.
• Experience implementing high-quality and scalable solutions to production and supporting them
• Collaboration skills and work with teams to maintain and identify requirements for improved Previous experience as a tech lead architecting, developing, and shipping software products and/or services with a distributed backend
• Experience providing technical mentorship and training to engineers building distributed systems
• Passion for writing and delivering clean and well-tested code, participating in code reviews and always thinking about how to make products easy to support and maintainPassion for elegance and simplicity
• Experience managing multi-site teams and times zones is very desirable
• Pride in designing solutions that will outlive the problem Nice to have:- Experience working with different cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP
• Experience working with open-source systems like Kubernetes and docker
