Role Description
What is the scope, tasks, and responsibilities required for this role?
As a member of the development team, the Software Engineer's responsibilities involve all aspects of the software development life- cycle. This life cycle includes interfacing with business users to determine requirements, designing software solutions, implementing and testing solutions to ensure they meet the needs of the business, deployment of solutions to the production environment, and providing L3 support for the application when issues arise.
The IT Development team is responsible for developing solutions to support business decisions, directly or indirectly by providing raw / pre-processed data to Data Scientists and Traders. This is achieved with agile methodology and a lot of teamwork. Always oriented to delivery, the area fosters technical and business discussions seeking continuous improvement in results, with the continuous advent of cutting-edge technology in Data Science, Cloud Computing, Clustering, Containers, and Machine Learning.
Work Activities / Tasks
• Working with business users to understand their needs and determine front-end application requirements
• Collaborating with the Development team to design solutions to business problems (Mainly on the UI of our in-house data vis solution)
• Implementing new features and new applications for Trading, Quants, Research, Risk, Middle Office, and Back Office groups
• Development of new visualizations (existing or new libraries)
• Troubleshooting production incidents with the support team and performing root-cause analysis
• Investigate new technologies to ensure that they are fit for purpose
• Maintenance and bug fixing of existing business applications
Required Background
• Fluent in English language
• Background in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Information Systems
• Professional Experience developing Front End applications in modern Javascript frameworks like React, Angular, Svelte, or Vue
• Proven experience designing and implementing responsive user experiences using HTML and CSS for multiple devices
• Experience with near real-time web applications. Exposure to Web socket technology and related landscape
• Exposure to integration tools such as Rest API, Web API, Entity Framework, SSIS, WPF, WCF, Soap, GraphQL
• Knowledge of common AWS resources (S3, Lambda,EC2, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
• Experience using the GIT version control system
• Familiarity creating automated build and release pipelines in a tool like Azure DevOps, AWS CodeBuild, or Jenkins.
