Come join the Alation Team as a Senior Technical Program Manager! The Technical Program Management team’s mission is to accelerate the outcomes of our organization by driving programs and uniting cross-functional teams to operate with velocity. As part of the Technical Program Management team, you will help us drive large cloud initiatives in order to deliver critical business outcomes. You play a key role in setting team strategy, independently driving complex multi-phase programs, requiring cross-team communication and coordination
You should have:
- 7+ years of experience in technical program/product/engineering management for large-scale business intelligence systems and/or complex software development initiatives.
- Prior experience developing a vision for your team that is aligned with business goals and defining effective OKRs for your product to measure progress toward that vision.
- Bachelor’s degree (masters preferred) in business, engineering, computer science.
- 2-4+ years software engineering experience with solid technical background / understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and cloud technologies.
- AWS experience highly preferred; may consider other platform experience
- Experience using modern Cloud and container-based Enterprise computing architectures and Linux based OSes.
- Ability to influence at all levels and build strong partnerships across organizations in order to deliver the best outcome of complex programs.
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills along with multi-tasking capabilities to get things done in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding communication skills appropriate for executive-level audiences; ability to structure and communicate goals of program, relationship to business goals, and other relevant success criteria
- Proficient at executing on open-ended problems that require difficult prioritization and technical innovation to meet user and business needs.
- Work effectively with remote teams, comfortable managing communications across multiple channels (email, Slack, Zoom, etc) and continents to get people aligned and get things done.
- Experience developing and delivering on project milestones using Agile
- Experience developing and interpreting performance indicators to guide definition process
- Experience using data analysis tools (e.g., A|B test software, Tableau) and/or scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python) to inform product decisions
- Prior experience leading cross-functional teams using agile methodologies
What you'll do:
- Drive creation of program roadmaps and execution plans for complex, cross-organizational teams across all phases of planning, development, and production readiness and launch.
- Influence decisions by connecting strategy, priorities, and business/technical outcomes
- Lead execution in partnership across multiple functions to align and deliver successful outcomes
- Ensure continued alignment of program scope, status, risks, and dependencies through effective communication across the organization and at all levels.
- Quickly and effectively identify critical issues and dependencies that need action and personally drive them through to closure. Balance business needs and technical constraints in resolving issues.
- Anticipate, recognize, and work through resistance or setbacks independently, work well with others when conflicts arise: see opportunities, ensure alignment with objectives, find common ground and promote understanding of alternative viewpoints before driving for closure and cooperation
- Effectively communicate program progress appropriately to varying levels of stakeholders across organizational boundaries, including senior leadership, with little guidance needed
- Build relationships and drive coordination across teams & disciplines, helping get to positive outcomes
- When necessary, introduce change into the organization, help others understand the business case for change, and create excitement to drive adoption of the change
Base Salary Target: $130,395 - $169,237
The base salary range is specific to the United States. The salary of the final candidate selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, work location, specialty and training. If the final candidate has a different level of experience, the base salary target range may be lower or higher than what is published.
