The Role

Job Overview:

The Field Applications Engineer provides technical project delivery, technical support, engineering and integration for Media Asset Management focused solutions. You will work closely with our customers to understand, capture and deploy solutions supporting content operations using efficient Media Asset Management processes.

• Work closely with clients to design and deploy Media Asset Management solutions
• Work closely with in-house developers, PS Delivery, PMO and partners to provide a full digital workflow deployment
• Working with a team to accomplish goals.

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Excellent comprehension and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a wide audience that has varying degrees of technical acumen. Must be able to translate complex technical ideas and issues into language that a client can understand, and against which they can take action.
• Ability to work as a member of the client services team, designing and implementing workflows to improve business challenges in the media industry.
• Work with customers to setup and deploy reliable, scalable workflows which solves clients’ business problems
• Be pragmatic, use the right tool for the job and balance design with delivery
• Must be able to manage multiple projects by utilizing strong planning and organizational skills
• Experience with general consulting skills that include team facilitation, business case and solution development, strong business analysis skills, process mapping and business process evaluation and designing
• Systems implementation skills including requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration and troubleshooting
• Manage day-to-day tasks and activities effectively and efficiently
• Be able to clearly communicate complex technical designs and solutions in verbal and written forms in clear, concise and easily readable format to both technical and non-technical personnel
• Be able to travel as necessary (less than 10% of the time), providing on-site consulting work for clients


Required Skills and Abilities:

• Understanding of the digital media lifecycle
• Advanced knowledge of main broadcast and digital video and audio formats
• Proficient in video and image editing platforms
• Ability to deliver solid results within a software engineering environment
• Proven experience in a SQL Database
• Strong familiarity with Window & MAC OS operating systems.
• Working knowledge of MAM solutions
• Working knowledge of SAN, NAS, Networking
• Working knowledge of Transcode solutions
• Working knowledge of XML and JSON
• Proven experience in Microsoft Server and Client operating systems, Office 365, LAN Hardware and TCP/IP protocols
• System admin experience with AD
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills (i.e. de-bugging, testing)
• Ability to learn new skills (technical, operational, interpersonal) throughout previous, current and new roles
• Working understanding of server-based computing platforms (i.e. hardware, operating system, software virtualization technology/strategies, etc.) networking devices (i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) and the design and delivery processes


Desired Skills and Abilities:

• Experience in Media & Entertainment, Sports and Digital Media
• Experience of file-based broadcast systems and workflows would be a distinct advantage.
• Understanding of enterprise hardware and software and their benefits in digital media workflows
• Experience with technical integration, scripting and coding
• Development experience within a Linux/Unix environment
• Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Mongo, ElasticSearch), cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), storage/archive solutions, and multiple operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac)

Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent or Bachelors Degree in another discipline with code development curriculum and/or comparable work experience.
