The Role:

Amazon Design Technologies AWS solutions team is looking for Sr System Development Engineer (Sr Sys Dev) to help drive the development of programming environment tools for our engineering solutions on AWS platform. Our organization operates and engineer systems at scale in engineering, manufacturing and supply chain verticals.
The person in this role will be part of a best-in-class team in fast paced agile environment working on high performance computing, virtualization, engineering automation and orchestration solutions. As a Sr. Systems Engineer, you will be surrounded by people who are collaborative, smart, passionate to build services on AWS which are critical to internal Amazon teams and external customers.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will own significant portions of the service and serve as a leader and consultant for other engineers in their areas of work. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define features, drive system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality v1 release. A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating a reliable, scalable, and high-performance service requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of professional software development experience
3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
· 5+ years of Systems/Software Development including systems/infrastructure management (DevOps) experience
· 5+ years of experience in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C/C++ or Python
· 2+ years of experience in infrastructure management (Server Mgmt., Networking, Storage Mgmt.)
· 3+ years of experience working in a UNIX/Linux and Windows environment.
· 3+ years of experience in managing Relational Databases such as MySQL/MSSQL and NoSQL databases
· Experience with Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented programming/design, data structures and problem solving
· Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in managing and developing applications in cloud environments (Preferably AWS)
· Experience with service-oriented architecture and web application/services development
· Experience working in SQL, AngularJS or similar web frameworks and SOAP/REST services
· Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders across all levels of the organization
