About the job
Prime Video is disrupting the traditional television and movie industry with a growing library of high-quality media. Prime Video launched in 2007 and has quickly become a strategic priority for the company, reflected in the service’s recent expansion into over 240 countries and territories worldwide. Amazon invests in acquiring, producing and programming TV shows, movies and live events including must-see exclusive series like Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, Reacher, The Grand Tour, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In addition to our On Demand catalog, Prime Video is excited to offer a wide selection of Live Sports as well, including titles such as UFC, English Premier League, Thursday Night Football and more.
The Playback Insights team is the telemetry team for all of Prime Video. We and collect trillions of events per day direct from end user devices all around the world that we process in real time and expose to hundreds of internal teams for everything from performance optimization to personalization and engagement.
In addition to the challenges of scaling and processing data from millions of active devices all around the world, we also tackle the complexities of Big Data by hosting one of the largest Data Lakes in the world at near Exabyte scale. We continuously innovate to improve upon performance while accessing our data, despite the constant exponential growth of the data we store.
We also know that knowledge is of little use without wisdom, and to that end have empowered our users by creating a series of business KPIs, surfacing critical performance and engagement metrics. We exposing these KPIs to users through a variety of interfaces including intuitive web applications that offer a guided flow every step of the way from analyzing top level metrics down to exploring a single streaming session if a customer calls in after experiencing an issue. We additionally strive to automate data exploration where we can, and are investing into new machine learning models to identify the top items our teams should focus on to improve overall customer experience with the entire Prime Video platform.
