We are looking for Software Development Engineers to join the Prime Video Living Room Player team. We develop the video player components running on a vast array of devices from Smart TVs to Set top boxes and Game consoles. Living Room Player team is building and deploying optimized native components as well as platform independent, scriptable components and cloud based infrastructure to power video playback on millions of living room devices.

Key job responsibilities
Our team is looking for talented SDEs to help us shape the future of video in Living Room. You will work on latest video technology such as Ultra High Definition, High Dynamic Range, Dolby Atmos, Low latency live streaming etc. You will solve big picture problems like “How to deliver video more reliably than the Internet connection?” to low level details like “What's the right threading model for parsing video fragments on a PlayStation?”. You will utilize test automation, continuous integration and agile development methodologies to create software that runs across different platforms on device or on the AWS cloud.

A day in the life
You will architect solutions across multiple teams, prototype and implement new features, influence technology choices and work with leading consumer electronics manufacturers across a wide range of devices from low end System on Chips to powerful games consoles. You will help automate the delivery of playback software to millions of customer devices globally.

About the team
Prime Video is available in over 1 billion Living Room devices globally. Our team provides the playback experience for hundreds of millions weekly customer sessions. We delight our customers with new features and improvements continuously in an Agile environment. We obsess over reliability, quality and latency of playback. A successful candidate is able to learn quickly, delivers results in collaboration with other Living Room and Playback teams, insists on highest standards, has the ability to dive deep and looks at every opportunity to automate to help us operate at scale

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of video streaming, video and audio codecs.
Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript and node.js
Appreciation of embedded software development and working with restricted resources.
Working experience with Agile methods, test automation, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD)
Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and services
