Summary:
The Playback & Streaming Optimization team owns and operates the software and services that iteratively optimize the quality and reliability of Prime Video playback by leveraging insights gained through the direct observation of our customers. Our services and systems are invoked each time our customers click play to ensure that playback parameters are tailored to deliver the best possible Quality of Experience.
The Team & Day in the Life
As an SDEII on our team you will need to tackle complex problems that span a variety of domains:
Working with extremely high scale distributed systems that must be continuously iterated on to meet the ever growing demands of our business and customer growth. Work on projects that are at the bleeding edge of Prime Video business. Your results directly translate to playback experience Prime Video customers have and it is instantly recognized and rewarded by customers. Work on highly marketable technologies and reusable skillset on high scale, low latency online APIs on AWS cloud. Work in an inclusive team that cares about your growth and strives to achieve a harmonious work-life balance. You will also have an opportunity to collaborate with a team of ML/AI scientists to influence our overall Playback Optimization technical strategy, help define the team’s long-term technical road map, and mentor junior engineers.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, C#, Kotlin, Python including object-oriented design
- 12+ Months outside of recent graduation (MS,BS,PHD)
- Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
- Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
- Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
