Job Overview
As a Data Scientist at the BudLab, based in Cambridge, MA, you will be responsible to execute research and development (R&D) projects in analytics. In this position, you are expected to act as the interface between our academic partners and business stakeholders, maximizing value generation from these engagements.
This position requires the use of complex theoretical and practical knowledge to solve business problems from an analytical perspective. While managing projects, it will also be required that you develop the solution along with the parties involved, performing tasks related to data engineering, data exploration, or modeling whenever necessary.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Partner closely with academics (professors, researchers, and students) to develop solutions for business problems using data analytics
- Perform scientific literature review using a hypothesis-driven approach to perform primary and secondary research
- Identify areas of opportunity for increased efficiency, drive transformation through routine plans and execution
- Based on data exploration, develop quantitative models that will improve the overall performance of different business units (e.g., demand forecast models, financial risk assessment of production volume, profitability analysis)
- Analyze research results and provide insights and recommendations to solving complex problems in transportation, water resources management, corporate finance, and many other areas of the company
- Contribute with original scientific observations by communicating scientific information to business stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field + at least 2 years of DS experience or master’s degree in STEM field
- At least 2 years of experience in quantitative research and data analytics
- Proficiency in Python and use of machine learning algorithms
- Experience in a relationship management position
