About the job
Who we are
Makelane is building the MasterClass for ambitious women. We create transformative courses, communities, and content to accelerate women-owned businesses everywhere, beginning with ecommerce.
Our instructors are experts who have helped launch & scale world-class brands like Allbirds, Casper, Stitch Fix, Lululemon, Sephora, Hint Water, Mented, BirchBox, and more. Our mission is to democratize access to the knowledge & support women need to start thriving businesses—because we believe that when women thrive, we all do.
About the role
This role is critical to our early success.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end creation of our courses by working in partnership with instructors to negotiate with & onboard "talent", identify the right course topics, synthesize vast amounts of knowledge quickly, develop curriculum, and project manage the production of the course from idea to post-production.
Besides producing courses against a timeline in an organized manner, you will be expected to develop the scalable & repeatable frameworks for course production that create transformative learning experiences for students, delightful collaborative experiences for our instructors, and effective coordination with vendors.
You will effectively design & lead all course production in our early stages, playing a key role in our success and enjoying substantial latitude in designing our customer experience from the ground up with an eye towards industry standards in online education.
What you will do
- Develop in-depth and industry-leading curriculum by working with instructors, subject matter experts, and our community
- Identify course topics, conduct instructor outreach, and manage negotiation & onboarding
- Manage the production of all curriculum and course materials (including PDFs, templates, resources, guest speakers, breakout sessions, etc.)
- Work closely with marketers to develop a launch strategy, create promotional materials & events, and manage application process
- Develop scalable, repeatable frameworks for course production that we can efficiently replicate across topics through rigorous experimentation
- Coordinate effectively with freelancers & vendors (designers, copywriters, video producers, FB ads experts) to produce courses and materials
- Manage the operations & logistics of each course, from software to scheduling
You may be a fit for this role if...
- You are obsessively curious and love learning for its own sake
- You're able to quickly dive into a new area and become our internal subject matter expert
- You are a gifted communicator masterful at explaining complex topics
- You're relentlessly resourceful and can get an introduction to just about anyone
- You can drive a complex project to completion in an organized way
- You're excited about the prospect of designing a world-class learning experience that transforms the lives of thousands of women
- You're passionate about democratizing access to education & resources
- You're a naturally empathetic and attentive listener
Ideal experience
- You've spent time in a creative producer, curriculum developer, or instructional design role
- You've worked closely with clients, partners, or talent successfully before
- You've had experience in digital media, online education, or supporting other entrepreneurs (i.e. at an accelerator, VC firm, etc.)
- You've had some entrepreneurial experience of your own, whether it's starting a side hustle or a volunteer project
- You have a track record of taking initiative on causes you care about
