Software Engineer

We are hiring a full-stack Senior Software Engineer. This role is focused on designing, building and maintaining internal technology. In the early stages of the role, a successful candidate will lead pure software design & implementation, requiring no formal understanding of blockchain technology. Over time, their role will expand and they will become comfortable with other crypto-native engineering work.

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who can work with the team to transform complex workflows into intuitive technology. They have a history of Web development and building complex systems from the ground-up. They think independently, can form judgements about design tradeoffs and communicate recommendations to the broader team.

It is a fast-moving role in one of the most intellectually demanding industries. We expect this role to expand as the Fund’s technology stack evolves. The salary is competitive and will depend on the candidate. We are a remote-first organization and have coverage across both Asian and US time zones - which makes for unconventional and flexible hours, something we expect from a successful candidate!

A successful candidate is:

An advanced backend engineer -- design and implement robust database schema; demonstrate high competency with database technologies (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB); demonstrate high competency with backend technologies (e.g. Ruby, Node.js); demonstrate high competency with hosting technologies (e.g. Amazon AWS)
An advanced frontend engineer -- design and implement simple, yet effective GUI’s: demonstrate high competency in frontend technologies (e.g. React, Angular)
A strong developer -- write code to a consistent, neat style guide (e.g. consistent indentation and comments); build modular software free from “technical debt”; avoid “spaghetti” code
A systems thinker -- integrate fragmented data into a single, unified interface; translate high level requirements into detailed design specifications
A strong communicator -- collaborate with broader team on architecture diagrams; regularly update progress and product timelines
A creative thinker -- challenge the team as necessary and lead independent projects; capable of synthesising disparate requirements
Self driven & a meticulous planner -- capable of developing low to high level roadmaps for product design and delivery; determined to stay accountable to delivery deadlines.
