We are seeking an experienced SEO Manager to join our growing digital team in NYC. The ideal candidate should be passionate about SEO and marketing technology, have a full understanding of ever-evolving SEO best practices and technical considerations, and a proficient knowledge of how research and strategy informs content creation optimization. The role will report to the Associate Director, SEO, and will support our expanding team through daily management of SEO strategy and communication with existing and new clients.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The SEO Manager is central to the SEO team, and is responsible for the management and success of our clients’ organic search programs. Specific duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Day-to-day SEO tactical management & execution across multiple clients
- Work in conjunction with predefined SEO campaign objectives
- Provide regular client reports and client deliverables with actionable insights
- Perform client work outlined in coordination with other media teams
- Work with multiple levels of agency teams to provide the best organic search experience possible
- Work with technical teams to determine & build strategies for technical SEO implementation
- Manage linkbuilding campaigns
- Work with our content leads to build quality, SEO driven content
These responsibilities will differ from client to client, and in general, the typical breakdown of the SEO Manager’s core activities will be as follows:
- Technical Consultation/Implementation Support: 30%
- Client Management: 25%
- Strategy: 15%
- Reporting: 15%
- Evangelism/Education: 5%
- Content / Link Building: 10%
Supervisory Responsibilities
The SEO Manager position oversee's an SEO Analyst & and sometimes an intern, and they will report directly to the SEO Manager.
Knowledge and Skills Required
Skills and experience will be evaluated on a case by case basis, although in general, we’d prefer the following initial qualifications:
- 3+ years’ work experience in an SEO-heavy environment and/or specifically with SEO
- Expert knowledge of all aspects of SEO
- Expert knowledge of Google Analytics and Microsoft Office Applications
- Familiarity and experience with Screaming Frog, MOZ, SEMRush, Ahrefs, and/or other industry tools
- Ability to manage processes & projects across several clients at a time
- A thorough understanding of key search engine ranking factors
- Ability to conduct relevant keyword research and make recommendations
- A thorough understanding of and the ability to conduct detailed on-site optimization
- Ability to interpret analytics data and identify actionable opportunities
- Proven ability to autonomously manage an ongoing SEO campaign
- A solid understanding of CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization / A/B Testing) a plus
- Working knowledge of HTML, PHP, Javascript, and/or CSS a huge plus
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to communicate effectively with developers & technical team as well as clients & account team
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
Google Analytics Certification is helpful.
