About the job
Grey Matter is a social music app with cross-platform streaming integrations and expressive ways to share, discover, and support music. Imagine if Instagram + Sonos had a kid and Reddit + Patreon had a kid and those two kids had a kid.
We’re seeking a hands-on engineering captain who can provide technical leadership across all aspects of our organization. We’ve just soft launched onto the app stores after a six-month beta period with Spotify, Apple Music, Giphy, and Canny integrations. We already have a strong technical infrastructure, a robust roadmap, and a dynamic team of invested partners. Grey Matter’s next phase will focus on community growth and adding new community features and streaming integrations.
Our ideal candidate is a strong mobile developer with the leadership skills to build and lead a development team. This person is also curious, reliable, humble, and a fierce music lover.
We use:
Development
- React Native (Frontend)
- Node (Backend)
- Sentry (Error logging)
- GitHub (Version control)
- Firestore (Database)
- Google Cloud (Hosting)
- Segment (Analytics)
- Clickup (Documentation)
Communication
- Slack
- Google Hangouts
Our Tech Lead will:
- Own and guide the technical roadmap and development workflow.
- Architect and implement new features.
- Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Audit and optimize our current technical tools, structure, and processes.
- Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors.
- Build and foster our tech team.
- Organize sprints and allocate responsibilities appropriately.
Our Tech Lead has:
- 5+ years of full-stack app development and demonstrable proficiency with JavaScript frameworks like React Native and Node.js.
- 3+ years leading teams in an Agile workflow.
- Knowledge of tech trends to build and guide strategy.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Strong interest in music and its communities.
- Grasp of the music tech ecosystem is a big plus.
