About the role:
As the Senior Backend Engioneer you will be responsible for maintaining and developing our streaming data pipeline and services.

Reporting into the VP of Engineering, you will code, test and submit pull requests daily. In the pursuit of excellence, you'll be the lead creator and maintainer of a high volume, real time data pipeline that's responsible for collecting, storing and reconstituting billions of video viewing sessions.

Working in a highly agile engineering environment, you will also be an integral part of the wider team, interfacing with Customer Success and the Product team to ensure we solve our customer requirements and product strategy objectives are achieved.

What you'll be doing

  • Writing clean, efficient, performant, well documented and secure code for the high availablility, high bandwidth data pipeline of the Watching That platform;
  • Providing input into the system and platform architecture;
  • Working with the VP of Engineering to plan, prioritise and carry out your work;
  • Exploring new ideas and suggesting improvements to overall development processes and
  • Being an active member of a cross functional, highly collaborative team.

The Ideal Candidate
You are a passionate expert in the field of Backend Engineering, using your thorough understanding of the Kafka server , ElasticSearch database and big data programmatin concepts you'll take us to new heights and teach us something new.

You are also a passionate technologist, highly disciplined, finishing what you start and always pushing the boundaries of the possible.

Whether offering informed opinions about our technical implementation or sharing a a hilarious GIF on Slack, you will not shy away from letting your voice be heard.

Use this check list to measure your fit to the role:

  • 5+ years experience in a mid/senior level role using NodeJS;
  • Proven data streaming / pipeline engineering experience;
  • Experience working in a remote and agile startup environment (i.e. a team size less that 10 people);
  • Experience with modern ML/Big Data design principles is a strong plus;
  • Fluent in English - both spoken and written, with a particular strength in code documentation
  • Experience working in Video and/or Ad Tech startups a strong plus;
  • Experience with modern frontend technologies and API design/best practice is a nice to have;
  • Experience collaborating within highly distributed teams is a plus;
  • Located +/- 2hrs time difference from London, UK
