We're looking for a Backend Mission Engineer to join the Somewear team! This is a unique role that is truly one of one. Half of your time will be spent working directly with our customers to build rapid solutions for their most pressing needs, and the other half will be spent on core backend development as part of our standard development cycle. You will help develop a platform that saves lives!

As a Somewear engineer, you’ll be working with and learning about a wide range of technology including our custom hardware, satellite tech, mesh networking, Bluetooth, sensors, 3rd party integrations and cloud services. Expect lots of interesting challenges.

"Recently, the United States Air National Guard 131st Rescue Squadron successfully employed Somewear’s unique ATAK integration to coordinate and monitor a civilian rescue operation 1,200 miles off the U.S. Pacific coast. The consistent communications and situational awareness across rescue personnel, medical personnel, aircrafts, and the operations center led to an efficient rescue mission that took half of the expected time to complete."

What you’ll do:

• Customer-Centric Solutions: Dedicate half of your time building solutions directly with our customers, ensuring we deliver impactful solutions that exceed their expectations.
• Core Backend Development: Enrich our core product offerings as part of our regular development cycle, including:
  • Build features that power our client applications and satellite hardware
  • Manage and improve our cloud infrastructure
  • Develop integrations with partner systems
• Onsite Collaboration: Immerse yourself in our customers' environments by visiting them onsite 1-2 times per month. This hands-on approach will enable you to gain profound insights into their challenges and requirements.
• Project Examples: Integrations with health sensors for biometric reporting, integrations with third party common operating picture platforms, customer troubleshooting and customization.

We’re looking for someone that:

• Backend Developers: 5+ year of experience working with Spring, Postgres, Redis, gRPC, Kotlin, GCP, and AWS.
