Founder @galactic-exchange • Worked at @riverbed-technology, @ruckus-wireless • Studied at @university-of-bristol
Worked in senior roles (VP EMEA, VP WW Sales, VP WW Marketing) for 6 start-ups, 4 of which have gone on to successful IPOs and/or acquisitions - combined value of which is >$14B. The remaining two will exit successfully. Understand the start-up culture, importance of just getting stuff done, teamwork, can-do attitude etc.
At Alteon was VP EMEA and took the region from pre-revenue to a $60M a year run-rate. At Ruckus Wireless joined pre-revenue as VP EMEA and then moved to the US to become first VP WW Sales. Grew revenue to $200M+ before turning hand to different roles in the company.
Currently running WW Sales at Celona - a Tier-1 VC funded Private Cellular Enterprise networking SaaS company.
Describe the most impressive thing you've done."The Everything Store" - the surreal story of how Jeff Bezos built Amazon from an online book store to the technology behemoth it is today
"The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien - funny that I am not much into fantasy and yet I have read this 1,000+ page book 4 times. Along with its predecessor, The Hobbit, easily ranks as the #1 book I would turn to first if dropped on a desert island
Probably attending every England Rugby International but also doing venture capital - technology just interests me!
Invest small amounts in emerging markets (geographic and technology markets) - it would have set me up much earlier than it eventually did.
Wrote a book and published it on Amazon!
Dominic Orr & Selina Lo - had the pleasure of working with them both at Alteon & Ruckus. Super-smart, mega-successful driven individuals - but they never forgot the people in their companies that helped them be successful. Just great people!
Never a pessimist - only ever a disillusioned optimist! I prefer to see the good in everyone and the upside in any situation. Let's find a way out, not worry that the door is locked!

I love my senior school motto (in Latin of course!) - Esse Quam Videri - which means "to be, rather than to seem". I think if we all lived by that rule, were open and honest about who we are and our intentions, then the world would be a better place
Give me the facts. I am told I do not suffer fools. As an example - when I read resumes that say "I built a pipeline of $XXM whilst at Company ABC" I get very annoyed. Pipeline data on a resume is totally meaningless. What did you ACTUALLY sell?
Modern History (1900 onwards) in High School. I think it was the teacher - Mr Church - more than the subject matter. I was always a maths/physics/chemistry kind of person and still am, but Mr Church turned a casual interest in world history into a passio

Discovering at midnight (US west coast) my kids UK passports had expired the night before we traveled to the UK - and still managed (with the help of the New Zealand Embassy - US/UK was all shut) to have single-use passports by 9am the following AM!
