    Achievements

Yo Shibata has founded four companies so far and sold three of them. Most recently, he founded Spotlight, Inc., the company behind the mobile app "Smapo", which gives users redeemable points just by walking-in to the stores. In order to detect walk-in, Smapo uses ultrasonic beacon based on the technology developed and patented by the company. Spotlight was the first and the most-used app in Online-to-Offline arena in Japan. The company was acquired by Rakuten, Inc.

After Yo left Spotlight, he moved to NYC to prepare his next business.

He also invests in early stage startups globally with the angel investment fund Tokyo Founders Fund, which he co-founded with 7 well-known entrepreneurs in Japan.
